Anita Saarkessian

Anita Sarkeesian, a Canadian/American media critic, is also a speaking event organizer. Feminist Frequency is a website with video and an online blog analysing portrayals gender roles in pop media and popular. Anita Sarkeesian was a Canadian and American feminist media critique. Feminist Frequency - a not-for profit website that focuses on the representation of women in pop culture narratives - is created and is directed by Sarkeesian. In addition, she works to bring awareness to the targeted and sexist attack on women and other minorities in online spaces she is dedicated to breaking down stereotypes that are associated with popular culture. Sarkeesian is a graduate in the fields of social thought and political science at York University. She is also an internationally acclaimed public presenter. Sarkeesian gave speeches to the TEDxWomen XOXO Fest and United Nations Broadband Working Group. At a young age, Sarkeesian was fascinated by issues of gender identity and feminist thought. As a student, in 2009, she launched her Feminist Frequency website. In 2009, the determined young lady was harassed by the Internet for starting a web series on gender in videogames. However, the attacks did not hinder her. The experience only strengthened her in her role as a feminist journalist. To honor the numerous achievements she's made for feminism, she is awarded numerous prizes. Anita Sarkeesian was a multi-award winning media critic. She also serves as the creator and director of Feminist Frequency an educational non-profit organisation that studies pop culture representations of females.
